The Nike Kobe Mid Will Debut In Colorways Inspired By Psychology

Though this upcoming NBA season will be the second since Kobe Bryant’s retirement, that hasn’t slowed down the releases of his sneakers. And now, Nike has unveiled the latest model which is the Nike Kobe Mid. The direction they went with to begin the colorways for this release are inspired by the psychology of color, focusing on understanding the correlations between color, attitude and emotion. I find this to be a very unique take on colorways because it delivers a different type of inspiration for this shoe. Usually colorways are motivated by on court moments, iconic games or something along those lines.

There will be five colorways releasing in the what I’m calling the “Color of Psychology” Nike Kobe Mid Pack. Each colorway will be inspired by different elements of color psychology that Kobe feels help him on his never ended quest for improvement. For Kobe, purple represents overcoming challenges and setting fresh goals. Red is acknowledged as a symbol of passion. Yellow and positivity go hand in hand, or as some say, “amongst the clouds there is always the sun.” Grey represents calm neutrality. And the color represents honesty for Kobe.

These five color psychology inspired colorways will be globally available on August 24th as nod to both of Kobe’s uniform numbers.
