During the 1988 NBA Dunk Contest, Michael Jordan wore the “White Cement” Air Jordan 3 as he took flight from the free throw line to dunk. And Jordan Brand is set to release a special Air Jordan 3 to pay homage to that special event which took place 30 years ago.
The “Dunk Contest” Air Jordan 3 is a remastered “White Cement” AJ 3 with a translucent outsole that has a red stripe on the left shoe to mimic where Jordan took off from on the free throw line. Another feature for this special release is the “3:51” on the inner back tab, which is the exact time that’s displayed as he flew from the free throw line during the Dunk Contest in ’88. They will also have “147” on the inner tongue to represent the total score MJ had in that Dunk Contest.
This special “Dunk Contest” Air Jordan 3 will release on February 14th in a very limited quantity. Check out photos below and be sure to keep up with Da Jay Way for more Air Jordan news.
