Next month sees the return of Nike’s “Be True” Collection, a series of shoes in colorways dedicated to the LGBT community in support of inclusion in all fields.
This year’s collections series is made up of the Air VaporMax, the Flyknit Racer, the Cortez and the Pegasus 34, along with matching apparel. The rainbow coloring on each pair is to represent the original 1978 Pride Flag.
“The key for us was to create something that people could unite around to show their support for LGBTQ athletes,” says Robert Goman, LBGT Network Leader at Nike. “Sporting your rainbow in the gym or on a run became a way to feel like you belonged to something larger – you were connected to being ‘out’ or being an ally. The rainbow has and always will be incorporated into the BETRUE product in some way.”
Look for the “Be True” Nike VaporMax “to release on June 1st on NikeLab.com. The other three shoes in this series will release on June 5th on Nike+, Nike SNKRS, NikeLab, and select retailers.
