After first shocking the world in 1993 with his retirement following his father’s death, Michael Jordan delivered more surprising news to the world by announcing that he was going to being a career in baseball. And now, Jordan Brand is releasing two Air Jordan 9’s inspired by the two teams he played with during his minor league career.

As many already know, the Air Jordan 9 was the model of Jordan formed into a baseball cleat for MJ during that time so it’s only right that Jordan Brand use it for these releases. Both pair feature premium quality leather with woven side panels, clearly inspired by baseball gloves. One pair will come in a black based colorway with “45” on the heel to represent his time with the Birmingham Barons and the other pair will come in a brown based colorway with “35” on the heel as a nod to his time with the Scottsdale Scorpions.

This release is already a special one because of their inspiration but what’s even more interesting is how you’ll get them. According to Pinoe77, both of these shoes will come wrapped in plastic and you won’t know which pair you got until you open them.

Look for the both pair of “Baseball Glove” Air Jordan 9 to release on June 15th at select Jordan Brand retailers. According to J23, the Browm colorway will a lot more limited than the Black colorway.
